Self portrait in an empty car park during lockdown

I am a pediatric neurosurgeon based in Antwerp, where I work in the University Hospital, and divide my time between Antwerp and New York, where my partner resides. After Lockdown I developed a deep passion for street photography. My work is guided by a strong sensitivity for composition and light with the aim of creating images that feel both intimate and timeless. Solitude and minimalism are recurring themes in my photography.

While I walk the streets of Antwerp and New York I am continuously searching for the subtle beauty and poetry in ordinary moments of everyday life. While much of my work is in black and white, I greatly admire colour photographers such as Saul Leiter and Harry Gruyaert.
